Garage Conversion – Oxted
MayfairFowler converted a garage in Oxted into a large double bedroom with built in double wardrobe and en suite. With a new front door and Kingspan insulation throughout this type of work is a great investment to any home with a possibility of renting as a self contained flat.
Front and Rear Extensions – Edenbridge
To the front of the property we removed a single dormer with a flat roof, and built over the existing garage with a pitched roof. This created an additional bedroom and ensuite . Two steel beams were placed in the floor and ceiling areas to pick up the new timber work. To the rear of the property we removed a large section of the exterior wall, placing ceiling joist into the web of a new steel to ensure adequate head room. Underfloor heating, two glass light wells and a fibreglass roof were also installed by Mayfairfowler. Mayfairfowler have recently been asked to remove the existing patio and extend mixing new and old slabs.
Flat Remodelling – Croydon
Mayfairfowler is increasingly been asked to convert one/two bedroom flats for the rental market for a number of clients in the last few years. This is the second rental property we have worked on for this client and were briefed to provide them with a contemporary look and feel. Whilst ripping out the flat, it made sense to provide an entirely new plumbing and electrical system and acoustic insulation all hidden within newly dropped ceilings – this allowed us to install energy efficient LED downlights to the key areas providing a cool modern look. Opening up the kitchen through to the living space and re-configuring the layout of the units and appliances has really given the flat the sleek modern vibe prescribed in our brief and transformed it from the one bought a number of years ago.
Conversion – Epsom
This period house hadn’t seen any improvements since the 1970’s and as such was in need of a few alterations for modern day living. Mayfairfowler Ltd were contracted to open up the living space to the rear by removal of the load bearing dividing wall, the chimney breast, stack and demolition of the timber lean-to outbuilding. This then allowed installation of two new steel beams and new openings cut in for a kitchen window and French doors. With a new kitchen and bathroom, and fresh decoration, the house has been reborn and is ready for its next chapter.
House Renovation – How Green, Edenbridge
Built and owned by the same family since 1936 this terrace of cottages in the countryside still retain many of their original features. The middle of the three properties having been occupied by sitting tenants for the past 22 years had become vacant and the decision had been taken to renovate and sell. The property was in dire need of a new central heating system, full re-plumb & re-wire, and new kitchen and bathroom. With the addition of a new double doorway between the kitchen and dining room, the house will be far better suited to modern living. Upon completion, the house went immediately under offer privately to the second people to view at the full asking price – testament to the quality of the products and finishes installed.
House Conversion – Edenbridge
Converting this property in Edenbridge was a straight forward build for Mayfairfowler Ltd. With a very detailed tender package provided by the clients and architects we were able to complete and hand the property over with only a limited number of visits by the clients who were living abroad throughout the project. Extending the property and creating two additional bedrooms with an ensuite gave this well positioned property the living space the family required. With the additional benefit of a new kitchen, dinning and living area the clients were pleased to be given a beautiful home. They were also delighted with the garden dining table provided by Mayfairfowler Ltd as a moving in present.
Two Dormer Extensions and Full Refurbishment – Tunbridge Wells
Mayfairfowler were provided with opportunity to convert this property into a spacious, modern family home. By removing the roof and extending two Dormer Windows we were able to reconfigure the whole second floor and create a third bedroom with ensuite. On the ground floor we were asked by the local authority to correct some existing structural details which were finished on budget and in a timely fashion. A new kitchen was installed after plastering the entire house, decoration and Amtico flooring throughout.

Undoubtedly one of Mayfairfowler’s most prestigious projects, we were privileged to work on this large property in one of the most desired locations the South of England. Working closely with the clients we provided a complete refurbishment with an exceptional finish throughout.

With a clear vision by our clients we were able to provide a truly luxurious kitchen/ dinner with full Bifold doors, electric Velux roof lights and underfloor heating. Firstly we concentrated on the exterior brickwork without removing the back wall of the house and causing needless discomfort to the family. When Mayfairfowler decided to remove the back of the house we did so using only the very best equipment ensuring a quick and safe transition. The kitchen was all finished to a very high standard in keeping with an already beautiful property, with the added benefit of a utility area. On completion the client was very happy with the project and decided to instruct us to Render the entire house with a K rend system in polar white, which now showcases one of the best property’s in the area.
Refurbishment – Badgers Mount, Kent
Front and rear extension, and total refurbishment including new Kitchen and Bathrooms.
This project involved vast quantities of Travertine tiles and underfloor heating with one of the largest and extravagant bathrooms we have ever worked on. Due to the extent of tiling on this project we used our industrial tile cutting machines that ensure a clean and safe site. The master bathroom was made to be a huge continuous wet room with underfloor heating, 75mm sand and cement floor screed , walk in shower , his and hers sinks, toilet and bidet, bath with fixed integral shower unit, floor to ceiling Travertine tiles and a Velux ceiling window to allow natural light . MayfairFowler also installed a new kitchen, three bathrooms, two bedrooms, kitchen, utility rooms, lounge and dinning area and two downstairs toilets with hand basins. All to the highest standards and approved by the Federation of Master builders , BBA British Board of Agreement and of course most importantly Building Control.
Total Refurbishment – Haringey, London
Total refurbishment and structural works on a Victorian property. This was the second project undertaken by MayfairFowler for a longstanding client. On this project it was essential to maximize space. As the gallery shows the original bathroom was inadequate in size and style, so we took some space out of the adjoining bedroom to extend the bathroom. We also fitted a light well to allow some natural light through as there were no windows ,being in the center of the house. Another space saving idea was to build storage space and shelfs in the newly built stud wall. MayfairFowler also replaced an old kitchen with A Fired Earth kitchen and floor tiles with under floor heating. The client felt uncomfortable with the head room in this space so MayfairFowler took the above ceiling /floor joists out of the web of the existing steel and replaced on top, making a huge difference. MayfairFowler had made such a good job with this project ,that we were asked to relay a patio to the rear of the property and establish an authentic Victorian pathway and landscaping.
Double Extension – North London
Extending an already substantial property with an additional four bedrooms, two bathrooms, kitchen and dinning area. We also installed a lightwell to the rear of the property to allow natural light in, a trick we have used before in a property in Haringay which you can view in the above gallery.
Kitchen Extension and Orangery – North London
Converting an old horse stables into a luxurious kitchen and orangery was no problem for MayfairFowler. Being such an old and distinguished property one of the challenges was to keep some of the original character features of the house . We achieved this by a relatively new technique with involves dyeing the new brickwork to match the weathering and age of the existing. We also cast a new plaster molding to match the existing to the front of the Orangery and turning the sandstone brick work above the existing rear door into a plastered feature that both the client and building inspector were impressed with. To soften the look from the imposing glass roof we plastered around the windows keeping the arches to avoid to many modern straight lines. On completion Ian the building inspector congratulated us on standard of our work and recommended us to a client who had problems with there current builder.
Loft conversion St Albans
Our client contacted us with the view of converting their attic space into a full Loft Conversion, constructing two large extra double bedrooms one with a balcony and a bathroom, and the other with an en-suite and storage space. Once the architect and engineer designed a suitable layout and all of the necessary structural detail we were successful in obtaining full planning permission. The project was quite large in comparison to some loft conversions and entailed having to literally take the roof off the house and fit a new one with three dormers. Within a short space of time we started work, turning a bungalow in St Albans into what is now a very large property.
Knock Through – Oxted
A self contained office at one end of the property did not meet this clients needs when they purchased this beautiful 1920s house. To convert the property from a two bedroom two bathroom to a three bedroom three bathroom was fairly straight forward. MayfairFowler knocked through to the existing office space and created a seamless hallway by taking space from one of the substantial double bedrooms. We then converted the office into a luxury bedroom with on suite bathroom. We were later called back to build a decking area at the rear of the property.
Decking Area – Oxted
General Mainetence and Structural Works – London
This property had some serious structural and wood rot problems.After removing the damaged roof it was clear that all the existing timbers had deteriorated and needed to be replaced. We also reformed the window header with new bricks and replaced the roof.
Kitchen installation – Westerham Kent
Loft Conversion Sidcup Kent
A straight forward loft conversion with two Velux windows. To best utilise such a small space we built four cupboards in the supporting dwarf walls for added storage space, and built bespoke wardrobes and storage cupboards.The staircase to the new conversion was placed in the spare bedroom which was boarded and plastered to make it less intrusive to the space.
House Refurbishment – Enfield
This was a full house refurbishment including removing a wall in the lounge to create a kitchen/dinning area , installing two Flitch beams in the ceiling space to give the down stairs more integral strength after removing the kitchen wall, removing the old stair paneling and replacing with spindles , removing the existing single back door and replacing with a double Bi- folding upvc door, replacing the old carpets with a leveling latex system and Amtico , replacing the kitchen worktops and rejuvenating the tired kitchen doors and units by spraying with a white gloss finish. We also built a shelving unit around the old gas meter and services to avoid a costly relocation.
Bathroom Installation – Enfield
We always take great pride in some of the innovative ideas we have to add to what sometimes could be just a normal renovation project. A trick we have used on a number of builds including the Haringay project (in our Example Of Works) was to take a little space from the adjoining bedroom to extend the new bathroom. This allowed us to create a stud wall for the bath to sit next to. By doing this we could place exterior grade decking lights into a tiled shelf which could be turned on separately from the new down-lights, creating a great focale point.
